This is small grouping I purchased last year named to a William D. Peightel. I thought it was pretty neat that his haversack still has the inspection tag from when he departed for home. His dufflebag is also well marked with his name and service number so it made identifying him even easier.
Unfortunately Mr. Peightel passed away in 2011 and this is from his obituary:
Mr. Peightel served in the U.S. Army as a technical sergeant in WW II under General Eisenhower and was assigned to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. He received a personal commendation from General Eisenhower and the La Croix De Guerre 1940 Avec Pal Me by the Belgian government which is the highest honor to a non-Belgian native.
