    It is a pattern 1943 cap, Spanish army.
    Follows fashion after the fifties (forties examples have a high crown and a slooped vizor, inspired by german caps of the time).

    The rank (alfered or secod lieutenant) is indicated by the six pointed star.

    Those are extremely common in Spain as many university educated males (as my father, I have an example at home) were eligible for military service as sergeants or second lieutenants, specially to support technical branches as medical services, engineers, legal and the like. They got better conditions and the army in turn received a flow of trained personnel from the civil world.
    The star seems to be silvered bullion, which means a technical branch... very consistent with this.
