I am being offered this jacket and want an experts opinion as I know very little about these kinds of things, Is it original or not and what value does it have? Any help is wonderful.

This is an original Ike jacket (M44) but it has been messed with.
The 'corporal' stripes are not typical of period US Army types
and may not even be of US manufacture. The tongue of the
waist band has been cut off, and the right sleeve is
badly mangled as well.
Unless it is dirt cheap, and I mean about $10.00 or so, I'd wait
until a better example comes along, with or without original
insignia. They are not that hard to find.
Regards, Steve.
Hi Steve, actually the stripes are original and US. These were a shortlived and unpopular pattern introduced in the early 1950's.
This is an M1950 Ike jacket: so the waistband is made like this.
Cheers, Ade.
Thanks, Ade !
Glad someone is on the ball ! !
It was 3 a.m. when I was looking at this !
( Think I was twelve when I last had a pair of stripes like those........
I sewed them onto a 1950's era Canadian combat jacket ! )
Sometimes there is a label attached inside one of the upper
pockets with a date of manufacture on it.
Regards, Steve.

Hey, Thanks for the info. So it was made in the 1950's? And It was being offered to me for 30$
Maybe $30 is a bit high.
It was made in the 1950's.
Cheers, Ade.
So the tag that says 1943 is fake eh?
No, that tag is fine and original. It is not the makers date.
It tells you how to wear it under the 43 pattern jacket
Cheers, Ade.
Haha thanks guys, I'll pass this jacket up then. You saved me 30 dollars!
There are many WWII examples out there............keep looking !
A nice one may cost you about $50 with some or no insignia on it.
Regards, Steve.
