Default U.S M43 jacket or European variant?

    Hello chaps,

came across this jacket being sold as an original M43 jacket but what bothers me is the multiple rows of stitching on the collar. I can find no other examples of this pattern and wonder if it's some kind of Euro clone or later variant. What do you think?

    Hi Ian,

How many buttons are on the collar closer (flap)?

Large or small tag? (I can see it's removed)

Any inner buttons ? (For liners)

I assume there is no Mfg. tag in the left pocket.

    Regards,
    Taka

    Hello Taka,

all I have is the pictures you see. I spotted it earlier and have been doing a little research of my own but can find no other example of collars stitched in this way on an M43. You get a better impression of the rows of stitching I refer to on the bottom pic.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

I see what you mean now, indeed, a first for me as well.

Could be a field custom applied by U.S.M.C., they tend to like modifying.

I have one U.S.M.C. custom modified M-43 in my collection, extra threads were added, made into a smaller size.

    Interesting !

    Regards,
    Taka
