Good Pictures! Alot of nice uniforms in the backround too!
Have a look at this still from a Deutches Wochenschau news reel taken at the normandy front, what do you think of the camo on his helmet?
It hard to see Splinter?
Wow, interesting picture! Very cool to see how soldiers improvise, definently looks like the US Camo.
My guess is that he probebly cut the fabric off a dead soldier or a POW.
As was posted before the camo was used until friendly fire, but it still saw use past then but not much in combat. I have seen 99th infantry which did not really go active until the Battle of the bulge use camo but none in combat. The camo coveralls seem to have been popular with the 99th as well during state side training. Very nice pants Ive seen a pair (a shirt and pants) without tags fetch above 500$ they are quite rare I hope to find some someday...
I have a pair of what I believe to be 2nd pattern HBT camo trousers and posted this for discussion earlier this week. This set has the 13 star metal tack on button with no button fly, but a zipper marked Waldes Made in USA. The camo is printed only on one side. What do you think?Attachment 394229Attachment 394230Attachment 394231Attachment 394232Attachment 394233
Here's an SS man wearing the US duck overalls for interest's sake
In the ETO, these were used by the 2nd Armored Division and the 30th Infantry Division. Is there another I am forgetting?
