Default US Navy Line Officer JG Lt Lightweight Tunic

Stopped at a Garage Sale today and pick up this set of tunic and pants.

Vet was in the Korean War.

Not my thing but I hope the price was right at $25.00. Mint condition still with the dry cleaning tags in the pants and with only one small stain on the lower pocket of the tunic.

Don't know much about these so any feedback is appreciated. Appears to be a light weight (not lining in back) dress tunic to a JG Lt Line Officer. Made by Naval Uniform Service Inc.

Boards are from the well known Gemsco firm.

I may pass this along....not sure yet. so if there is interest .....

    Nice looking khaki uniform..

$25.00 is a steal for it. If you have the Sailor's name, this could be a good restoration project with the proper ribbons etc..

Shoulder boards look good too.. A little tarnish but to be expected.. "SALTY"

No name Smitty but I'm headed back in a bit with my wife to see if there is anything she likes, so I'll see if they will tell me.

Thanks for the great info as always

So I got a name. He served 2 years as a JG Lt during the Korean War and earned the National Defence Service medal.

Not sure where he served though.

Edit: Given that he earned the National Defense Service medal and not the Korea Service Medal it is doubtful he served in Korea directly

To quote: "While no document is known which explains the rationale for the award, it was apparently established to recognize all service members who served during the Korean War to include those who did not serve in the war zone. (Service members who served in the war zone received the Korean Service Medal)"
