Hi guys,
I picked this up the other day because it fits me like a glove, and original 42R uniforms are hard to come by. It's a USMC P44 top with rare economy steel buttons, supposedly used by a particular manufacturer to finish out a contract on time. It's named to a MGySgt. Wilbur T. Allen (839344, MOS 826 Aviation Supply Man), who I managed to research and find a bit of info on:
Wilbur T Allen
Muster Date: Oct 1943
Rank: Corporal
Station: Headquarters Squadron, Marine Aviation Detachment, Nts, San Diego, California
Wilbur T Allen
Muster Date: Jul 1945
Rank: Staff Sergeant
Station: Vmf-524 Mag-52 9Maw Fmf Mcaaf Congaree South Carolina
Wilbur T Allen
Muster Date: Jul 1955
Rank: Master Sergeant
Station: Vmf 351 Omcr (Avn), Mcas Cherry Point Nc Nas Atlanta Ga
The top was made during WWII, but it was probably issued to him in the 50's considering his rank at the time. Enjoy!
