Some issued items were not popular in the tropics and I can imagine the gloves fall into that category.
Do you have a piccy of the boots please?

    Oz.
Unfortunately the mannequin is wedged back into my ‘office’, however I did manage to get one boot off! They are not actually a matching pair as one is dated 1945 and the other (this one) is dated 1944, however they are the same size and have the exact same markings.

Brilliant set up! Like you I am very much into the Indian made jungle equipment. This is my set up (apologies for the awful mannequin...)

I have written quite a bit about jungle uniform and equipment on my blog which you might find interesting:

Many thanks for the link to your blog, it is very interesting. I hope to add some more bits to my mannequin over the coming months (depending on what I find and whether I can afford it!)

Mosquito boots by John White dated 1945. These were commonly worn by pilots but were meant for ground use. There would have been a draw string at the top of the boots to pull them in and prevent insects getting in.

A WW2 Kukri which was Issued to a soldier who was in the 26th Indian Bgde, in 1944. It’s a bit battered but still a very nice used knife. The blade is marked ‘M 43’, the scabbard is not marked (that I can see)
