Article about: Hello mates.I just received my ww2 british royal engineers tunic.It is in good shape and I got it for a nice price!It is dated 8/2/41 with the officer's name:G.F LEADBETER.It also has a tag

    RE lanyards should be blue. Are you sure it is red?

    I looked again the lanyard.I think that the colour has faded,it looks like grey but some threads at some point are indeed blue.If it wasn't blue, is it a problem for my jacket?Thanks for your interest!

    great looking tunic, the medal ribbon is 39/45 star, africa star with first army clasp and defence medal, sorry if you already identified these

    Lanyards are a specialist subject which has not been studied and there are so many variations that pretty much anything goes, so no problem. I have a Royal Fusiliers SD tunic with two lanyards on it, so who knows what that is about, one is a pistol lanyard and the other is very dark blue.

    as jerry said RE lanyard was navy blue, looking at your pics there does seem to be some faint red treads showing, so i'm not sure !!!!

    I can say know,after studing my lanyard that it is something like deep purple!
