Belgian clandestine press medal

Article about: That would be great thanks stuka. I've trawled the web looking for Belgian Resistance insignia and it's pretty thin on the ground. A triangular cloth badge and an armband is all I can find..

I have to admit some insigia's do look more like tigers!!! As a matter of fact I also tought it were tigers when I got to see my firts images, 40 years ago!!
    ;-)
One should indeed not underestimate the impact of those guy's job!
I am into printing buisiness by coincidence and happend to met a old guy who printed whole his live. He was working for a printer who mainly worked for the Belgian governement(law books!), and was member of a secret association during the cold war, ready to come into action if needed!
    That according to his story!!
I must say he was very handy with weapons too, that I can confirme!

Did you manage to find out when the Clandestine Cross was issued Stuka?

The die looks amazing. I guess there was a male part to it used to create the insignia like the old hammered coins. Do you have an example of that badge complete?

    Didn't find the date, yet!
We are having a day without rain, so I am working out side now. As soon as it rains again (in a few hours !) I 'll have a other search!

Die's don't always come with a counter part! I wrote a threat regarding thise matter, I 'll try to find it (too!!(lol)).
I don not have a example of the badge, as I don't know wher or how it was used! It could be a part of a medal....

    Just had a confirmation!
Like I said,it is a non-official association medal, that was given in the late 50 'ties, there is no official date of creation.
Also no protocol of wearing, because not official!
    Hope thise helps.

Thanks stuka.... you're Inspector Poirot in disguise really aren't you? )

Nice to know the medal's origins and to be honest I like the unofficial medals as they have an important place and often come from a source close to the subject. There are numerous Resistance awards out there I still have to get from Belgium, France and Poland but not so much from other allied countries who also had an underground movement.

Can I be a real pain and ask where I can find the images of your Belgian WW2 badges on here? It would be nice to know what I am looking for as some of them are not obvious... apart the the LION of course! I tried to locate them but the search button doesn't bring much up.

Much obliged for your help with this stuka, it is genuinely appreciated.

Sorry it is in Flemish, but here is a very intresting story of a great soldier!
My father knew him when he went to the colonial high school, and had lots of story's about the man.
He was also involved in the clandestine press!
His personal files were recovered by coincidence in a neglected old building....

If you want a polyester copy of the Belgian lion head, leave me your adress in a PM and I'll send you one (or more (!)).
Maybe you can use it to garnish a medal display....
