Makes you wonder how many medals were never issued to soldiers. I spose most soldiers just wanted to get home to a normal life with there family .

Glad to hear they should be on their way to you soon, looking forward to seeing them. You're right I bet there are loads of service men who didn't bother getting them. I see you cant get posthumous medals from WW1, only WW2 onwards. Makes me think they will probably stop doing the WW2 ones sooner or later.

And, a silly reminder, .... keep fingers off the medal faces.
Fresh minted items will take a fingerprint, and it will never look the same again.

Also, the rim detail, .. has it been laser etched, rather than engraved ?

Came home yesterday to a nice suprise. The remender 2 medals arrived for my pop that were never issued. The Australian war medal 1939-1945 and the Australian service medal 1939-1945. My job is complete. All the hard work looking into what medals he earnt and now in extreem safe keeping

If you notice one of the service numbers is different. Thats for when he joined up and lied about his age to get in. Served in the bombing of darwin at 14. His mum dobbed him in after 7 months up there and got taken out. Still got acknowledged which is really good
