emblem - the only other one I've seen that's similar
- but where would it originate from ?

The buckle is a hodge-podge put together trying

I must say that they didn't do a very good job of that! I have no idea about its origin, but the handwritten note on the back may be some clue. Maybe something to do with scouting or youth groups? The buckle looks like a schoolchild's sort of project. I've seen a number of similar homemade buckles from the 1960s.

This is all just conjecture, though! I will certainly let you know if I come upon anything useful.
