    Thanks for showing us these, I love seeing family groups, especially ones like this which paint a path from the battles in North Africa then up through the 'Soft underbelly of Europe' And a mentioned in dispatches too, no doubt you're rightfully proud of his contribution to the war effort.

    Thanks Tom and yes I am proud of the part he played in defeating the Germans in WWII. He aas wounded twice and his mention was for carrying a wounded comrade to safety whilst under enemy fire. I also have his capbadge and two photographs of him in the desert. The TA medal is particularly good to have as it is named unlike the stars.

    Hello gents, sorry its took me a while to respond, the joys of being a young parent! The bar is 8th army as you guessed. The badge underneath is a for loyal service badge. They are my prized possession, one day my daughter will get them.
