Help needed with British ww1 medals

Picked these up today and wanted to know is there anyway to see if the two medals are to the same guy , the ww1 medal is named to Capt .D Horn on the box and on the medal , i had a try at trying to find out more about him and found one who could be him who served with the British West Indies Regiment but not sure if this is the same guy and not sure if he would have been awarded the Volunteers officers medal ? , Thank you for any help

David Horn was commissioned from Cadet to 2nd Lieutenant, British West Indies Regiment, 19th June 1916. Officers in West Indies volunteers would have received the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers Decoration.
This VD is an Edward VII issue so would have needed 20 years service by 1910 in UK Volunteers.
