That is the original color. It revealed after i cleaned that particular one.
The other 2 are darker due to the patina.

The second one is not a WWII medal but i'm showing it here anyway. Hope it's not a prob.
A 1974 Greek medal for the commandos of 1st division who came by plane and landed with parachutes in order to fight against the Turkish invasion in Cyprus.
Obverse: ''Commandos Association '74''
Reverse: ''Airborne landing during the night of the 21st - 22nd of July 1974. Commandos 1st Division from Maleme Crete to Nicosia Cyprus''

I see. Probably he avoids meetings with veterans due to bad memories. Who knows what he has been through and what he has seen in the war.
