Default Purple Heart - Full wrap Brooch - Un-named in box

My last item from the show yesterday.

Trying to get all the WW2 US awards in "loose" versions so I can mount and display them. I already have two other examples but both are named and have some paperwork so I didn't want to put them in the display and separate the paperwork.

So..while this one isn't loose, it is mint and a full wrap brooch no less. And given that it is not engraved. I don't mind separating it from the box.

    Enjoy

Nice one Michael, interesting pin assembly, different to mine.

I just see it's titled full wrap.

    Thanks Rene...

Yours is a slot brooch used during WW2 (44) and just after. Then around 1950 they switched to a crimp brooch

    Here is a nice guide

Very nice Michael, According to Purple heart History Purple Heart History they identify the Medal with this type of full wrap brooch as a type II 1944-45 awarded to the U.S. Navy Regards, Paul

This is a nice link Paul. Going to have to study this when I get home and compare to my other references. But it does appear to tie in with what I understand. I'm still learning the ins and out of US awards however.

Would be great if it was a Navy example.

As an fyi....this is the wrong case. The Navy box is slightly smaller and does not have the slot for the lapel pin

So now even less concerned about separating it...anyone need a box???
