hi Chris,
yes,it's possible to be worn together. I even think they belong together, probably an allied pilot who was decorated with the Dutch airman's cross for actions above Holland.
It's not such a common find an airman's cross. Only 735 are awarded from 1941 untill now.

Thats what I thought as well , thank you for the confirmation .

That's great information thanks all, the photo shows the name "sgt symons" but as yet I haven't found any information on whether he could be the recipient of the medals (I have searched the 1947 awarding of the dutch airmans cross from the London gazette but as yet no luck).
Very interesting though researching the history on the back of such an inexpensive group that I'm sure is made easier with such a limited amount of awarded items.
.... not to mention it keeping a 14 year old engaged in finding out just that little bit more information about it all 😃

Maybe Sgt Symons was a crew member of the aircraft whose pilot (officer?) earned the medals? And gave him a copy of the photo? Symons is the key to further research. I wonder if there is a list of recipients of the airman's cross? Could be worth posting on a medal specialist forum.
Oz.
