    Default Sterling Navigators wings

    Hello,
I have these full sized , stamped "sterling".
I am pretty sure they are world war 2- bought as part on AAF lot.
not super educated on full sized us wings.
    are they legit?

are they essential like the previous post about sterling pilots wings being of "graduation" type late war? and cheaper?

    Thanks in advance

Indeed, basic or generic WWII set. There were many
makers of WWII US wing badges. One thing though,
    Navigators were Officers.........

As far as 'cheaper' goes, there had been an economic
depression in the 30's so if an officer or airman had
to buy two or three sets of wings for the uniforms
he owned, IMO he bought what he could afford.
Wings likely cost around $1.50/$2.50 or so,
but soldiers made only about $30 a month.

I don't expect the USAAF was about to lay out wads
of cash for 'designer class' wings, like Luxenberg
or Blackinton either, which would have likely
    been purchased through tailor shops.........
