Thank you both for the knowledgeable insight into the pitfalls regarding makers of insignia. I have found it very interesting.
Kind regards, Malcolm.
,,,,,,,....Something like this Ade ?
This is an extremely rare wing. The only one I've ever seen, anywhere !
I know "F&S" must mean "Firmin & Son".
The anchor is for "Birmingham" I think, and the lion
represents London Assay Office.............
Love to know the year the last letter stands for ! !
Regards,
Steve.
Hi Steve, that is the type.
The date letter is for 1943.
"A" = 1925 running to "Z" which is 1949.
Cheers, Ade.
That's great !
Thanks so much Ade ! !
I've been wondering for years, as my antique pocket watch book
only covers British silver marks up to 1925 ! !
Here is another neat wing you might enjoy, although it is post WWII............
Do you recognize the logo ? ! ( It's one of my favorites for this reason ! )
Regards,
Steve.
Nice! German made wing by Assmann.
Cheers, Ade.
An "Oxymoron" or something ! ! ? !
Just a few years earlier, they were churning out eagles with swastikas in their claws !
Would you like to see a couple more ??????
Regards,
Steve.
Ade,
I read on another thread that you like sweetheart items.
All 2" or less................ ( Except one US army pilot = 23/4" )
Regards,
Steve.
Hi Steve, yes I do like sweetheart items. My wife Lez is also keen on them.
These are really nice.
Cheers, Ade.
