I have posted this picture in Polish Armed Forces in the West along with other items, but the bottom right medal ribbon (red, white and blue) is proving difficult to identify. Does anyone know what it is? British or Polish?

The top right is the Monte Cassino Cross, its the bottom right which is causing the problems. I have posted in the Polish section and no one up to now knows what it is.

The last medal hasn't been identified, has anyone got any ideas where I could get it identified? I have emailed a local coin and medal specialist, they haven't replied.

    Evening all,

The military records have finally arrived. It appears the medal ribbon is wrong, even though Bronislaw is picture in uniform wearing them. His entitlement is:

    Polish:

    Monte Cassino
    Army Medal

    British:

    39-45 Star
    Italy Star
    Defence Medal
    War Medal 39-45

It does beg the question how he got away wearing the incorrect medal ribbon and the medal and ribbon must exist otherwise how was the ribbon available to be mounted by mistake. One questioned answered many more questions created!

    Thanks for your help

    Regards

    Richard

It seems the mystery medal ribbon may be the South Africa Medal for War Services 39-45, with blue slightly faded. This is obviously a mistake, Michaels records confirm he wasn't entitled to this medal. I still find it strange how he was able to wear it? Very strange. He never bothered to get the Defence Medal or War Medal mounted after the War.
