Hi Simon, "Queens Crown" would make it post 1953. I would think it is fairly modern.

Hi Simon,

This is a modern day copy that is one of many squadron badges available at any RAF museum. Generally speaking, the quality of the enamelling on period badges is far superior.

Simon, it's not worthless junk, these badges are increasingly being bought by veterans who wish to wear them on rememberance day and other related occaisions. Remember,many of these squadrons were operational long after the war in many other ignored or forgotten theatres of action, or just in a training or other less glamourous mode. Nontheless, they all served in one way or another, and are increasingly proud of their service. That is why these lapel badges are still produced, often in limited numbers, to cater for the men who are proud of their service, even if forgotten by the vast majority.

Think about it, you see a man wearing one and you've got to ask, "What's that all about", or something more erudite.
