It all depends on the date: if they are WW2 flashes, they are for the 7th Armoured Div .

gentlemen the 7th armoured was and is a division ,not a brigade
the brigade that used a desert rat was the 4th armoured brigade
the diference being the 7th armoured division rats tail went under his feet
and the 4th armoured brigade his tail went up his back

wow nice group, i would like to start a collection of british flashes and signs. what kind of price would i run into while collecting british armoured insignia?

they are here, there's nothing like getting something in the mail, especialy military items. I took some pictures of the patches maybe someone can tell me if they are WWII era or not.

The rats patches, if WWII are the type introduced for the 7th armoured Div in November 1943, though there was a 7th armoured brigade during the war, part of 7th armoured div, until sent to the far east (41/42) where they adopted the green Jerboa (they came back to the 8th army in 43/44). I have a single rat patch of the same type as posted by the thread starter which I think are WWII, though a comment from others on these would be cool.

The top picture of the wheel and arrow is for the 5th. Army Group Royal artillery. I think they came into being with the British Army on the Rhine in 1946. The charging bull of 11th armoured div is a difficult one as are the Desert rats because they were worn in WWII and on to a much later date, so difficult to be precice, yours, John.

From further research, it seems that the thread starter's 3 examples and the example I posted are post may 1945 and were manufactured and issued in Germany in the late 1940's and probably continued in use into the early 1950s.

I know that I am "re-hashing" this thread again guys, but I've just seen John's British Army Armoured unit shoulder flash display (post #14 above) and I'm VERY pleased to see that he has a shouder flash from my late grandfathers unit - 6 Guards Armoured (white shield, gold/yellow sword point up, 3rd row down, 3rd from left as looking at the display) I've been trying to get my hands on one of them for years, without success.
