Hi John,
It'a a post war Queens Crown RCAF Air Cadet Instructors cap badge.
Regards, Ned.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
We used to call those instructors CIL, however it may have changed, they Hold the Rank of Officers and are commissioned. I believe this was worn on the beret as I remember the metal ones were worn on the Peak Cap.
The ones from the past few years now have a Light Blue backing. This one was made during the "Tri-Service" period, when all Branches wore the "Greens" The Tri-Service period started in 66 or 67, and ended a few Years back with everyone going back to Proper Uniforms!!

Thanks for the replies guys! There's no way I would have found that out on my own, since it's such an obscure item.
