    Stumbled across this old thread while researching these insignias.
    Mine is the Roman numeral type in sterling - made
    somewhere between 1960 and 1981.........

    Hi, I have never seen one of these insignia in detail before so it is very interesting, alongside with that great photograph of other Chaplains. Thanks one and all! Leon.

    Perhaps if they came in right hand and left hand versions they wanted the numerals to be seen from front to back depending on which collar they were on. This set being for the right hand collar. Just a guess.
