Command Pilot Wings

I've had these wings since the early 1980's bought locally from an antique store for $20 if I remember correctly.

I really don't know the age / era they are from or what qualifications were needed to obtain the level of "command Pilot" but I have always liked them and they have survived in my collection to this day.

Any help here guys ( I've a new cell phone and the cameras are getting so good!! )

They are a WWII non-Sterling set, British made
- or at least the pattern is British. 'Firmin' of
London made US wings. There are also
a couple of Aussie companies that
did as well.

To obtain Command pilot wings a pilot had to
accumulate 2,000 hours flying time........

2000 hours flying in ww2. ... luck was with him for sure ( unless all hus hours were pre war )

Indeed, all flight time was counted from training
onward. Not sure if combat hrs were doubled.
A lot of active WWII pilots - if they weren't
shot down and killed, achieved Senior
rating.

Interestingly, I have a post-war Senior Pilot
wing made by Assman.........
