    Default Insignia Identification Help

Can anyone help identify this insignia. It's a gold colored metal & enameled device in the shape of shield (light blue) with a gold sword (pointed up) at the center over red flames & a small black shield in the upper corner with a gold sea horse(?) inside. Judging from the style of the pinback, it appears to be a WWII era German made piece. The device measures about 3/4" x 3/8" overall. Thanks in advance for your help.

If German, my best guess is possibly a U-Boat emblem or some form of unit insignia? If Allied, I have no idea. Hopefully someone will be able to shed more light on it for you.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

To me, and I am guessing here, but I feel it is possibly French?

    Cheers, Ade.

my guess would be german or austrian(but not ww2 as the quality doesn't fit it then at all) because:

dragons feature a lot in germanic mythology (also featureing a sword to slay the dragon)??, fire being what dragons breath etc and the blue being pure
i think i need to report to the looney bin now
