Insignia, real? age?

Well I got his wen I was about 8 years old. I believe I payed like a buck, also AFTER I bought it the guy said he wasnt sure if it is real. Now 9 years later I wanna know what the heck is it? Check out the pics, please let me know. T

Part of the world famous US 3rd Inf Div. (You will have heard of Audie Murphy: the most decorated US soldier of WW2 and the later film star: a hero of mine. He was in 15th Inf Regt.)

Nice item and worth keeping. Looks fine to me.

More learned collectors in US material than I might give you a more precise date, but I would say it is WW2 era. What with the screwback etc. Most post war insignia went to the "clutch pin" style fasteners.

I don't know Ade, I think we may be neck and neck on that one. Rene, you guys down under are well insulated from us bankrupt Yanks. Ade's 51st state was smart enough to stay away from the Euro. So all I can say is don't take U.S. dollar bills anytime soon. Wooden nickels are worth more!
