Default Interesting hand made RCAF patch

I just picked this one up, but it is a little but out of my area of knowledge, I was hoping maybe somebody could tell me a bit about this patch? It looks handmade and has been sewn on to something at least once. Any idea the jacket it went on? Is 54 the year?

    Cheers,
    Rylan

'3055 Technical Training Unit'. I like these terry cloth patches. '54' is likely
the date. It's not an official patch I recon, so could have been worn
on any civilian jacket - much like university or collegiate short
    'bomber' style coats.........
    Regards,

    Steve.
