Re: Lorne Scots officer's cross plate
Well...
It's a Canadian cross plate for the Lorne Scots of Canada. It's bi-metal construction fastened together with three brass hex nuts. There are four hooks to hold the cross strap in place. I scored this bad boy because of the condition, it being wrapped in the wax paper still. The face of the plate is completely unscratched, and other than that very small ding on the one corner, it is it perfect condition, making it very hard to photograph I may add. I really got lucky finding this, in this kind of condition. As my old grandpappy used to say, "even the sun shines on a dog's ass every once in a while".
The Lorne Scots in Canada have a military history as long as my arm, handing out ass kickings like a free lunch to the hungry. Battle honors include putting Canadian shoe leather up Hun buttocks in Ypres and the Somme, Italy in WW2...and they were part of Dieppe.

Re: Lorne Scots officer's cross plate
My grandpappy was quite a card. He used to like mixing up "old sayings". His favourite one was "you've buttered your bread, now sleep in it."
