Couldn't help myself mate here is one of my favourite militia badge designs the 22nd battalion South Gippsland Regiment.

With their motto FAMAM EXTENDERE FACTIS which means "To make known his fame by deeds"

Modern badges have nothing on the old militia stuff with their beautiful Australiana flora and fauna designs.

While I'm sorting out the patches for the next instalment I came across some more of my rising suns so I thought I would post them for reference. Hopefully this may help someone in the future.

WW1 issue hat badge made by Stokes & Sons Melbourne.

Stokes made badges throughout both world wars this example being from WW1 as it is made from brass and has the whole word "Melbourne" later they abbreviated it to just say "Melb"

Another hat badge from an unknown maker which is apart from a couple of small differences is very close to a Stokes made badge.

And this badge I am not so sure about... I know you posted on earlier Dave, although they do look like a good badge I think they might be a modern English made fake... I am still making my mind up about these.
