Thanks Mick, you are correct, the uniform posted is dated 1950.

Do you know much about him?

Was he a Squadron OC within 1AR? I wonder if he also served in BCOF?

Do not know much at this time. I will give the paperwork a good going over and see what more I can glean. There were several WW2 after action type monographs which had been sent to him and he made notes and corrections to them as to what actually happened. So I assume he was close to the action. The dealer had sold a nice pair of his slip on Captain's ranks that were of WW2 vintage. Based on this he was likely a 1st Lt or Captain by end of war.

He was ex Royal Australian Armoured Corps so he's of interest to me

My main collecting theme and area of interest is to the Royal Australian Armoured Corps so I'd love to know more about this guy.

That is a nice group you have there Jack, sorry to see it was a little broken up.
If you have a middle name or number for Norman you could try checking the WWII Nominal Roll website which is part of the Australian War Memorial website to see what his rank was at the end of the war.

Does anyone know what this colour patch is? Possibly something to do with New Guinea Force?

    G'day Mick

Best I can give is it's a 3rd Aust. Infantry Battalion patch.
FYI ---The author (Keith Glyde) from my reference guide has only seen reproductions of these!

Do they have a connection to New Guinea Force?

I would have thought their colour patch would have been a larger green/brown rather than a small green/brown on red/white.
