Item picked up today. Is it an arm badge denoting rank? It measures + - 40 x 29mm. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Yes IMO, if you already have it in hand and it was cheap?

All you need is to collect the variations through the ages, I have very mothed kings crown version which I assume is WWI in date, though it is not bullion and is for the SD tunic.
