Article about: Picked this one up on a flee marked for a wee penny! Can anyone help shed some light on it. Is it authentic, time & period - value?

    Hi,looks like the sort of thing the wife of a flyer would wear as a brooch to show her love and support for him and the RAF in everyday life.

    These are called "Sweetheart Broaches" and yours is a wartime example. The RAF wings is a very common design and was popular. Sometimes they have enamel detail to the crown or RAF letters in colour. More expensive ones can even have diamonds.

    Value depends on if it is hallmarked solid silver or not.

    Average kind of price is £12 for one unboxed. The box will a a small amount to the value.

    Ah, yes! This makes sense, really fascinating.
    Found a picture of it when I googled it with the right tags.
    - Stamped with 425 sterling silver mark, nothing else.
