Maybe buffalo masons badge ?
Hey Kradman, I did some Googling on your suggestion, and still no answers. Anyone else have any guesses?
I cant read the latin saying below correctly. Is it Semper fidelis? That is the Marine Corps Moto "Always faithful"
With the NYG I would also guess NYNG.
Semper Fi

I've looked on the net for it a few times. But when
you type in 'Semper Fidelis', all you get is USMC
topics. However, when you type the correct
combination of words, you get results :
74th Regiment New York Guard - Distinctive Unit Insignia - NY Military Museum and Veterans Research Center
Though I don't know why they refer to
these as "DUI's".........!
Regards,
Steve.
That's it! Thank you so much Steve!
I can't find too much history on the unit after the Civil War, sadly.
