Article about: I recently picked up this fantastic Union Jack flag, I don't know whether it is an early Australian flag or a British Union Jack but it is certainly old. It shows plenty of age, the material

So this flag could be a Naval flag if it has Union Jack printed on it?
    Elementary my dear 'groper.....
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

Hi and G'day Sandgroper, A year late and a dollar (Ausy) short. All of the RN flags that I have have one or more of the following stamps:
1 Government this way up sign, an arrow.
    2 Manufacturer.
3 Size (usualy followed by "YD).
    4 Date of manufacture.
5 Flag title (Flag Union/Flag Ensign etc).
6 RN or NATO Stock Number.

Finally, the hoist is usually in the form of a brass cleat rather than a wooden togel. Although yours may well be military, I would be more likely to go for civil.

Hope that this is of interest and use to you
    Regards Michael R
