US 48 stars WOII flag

Hello all,
I came across this WW2 US 48 star flag.

I have already done some research and am curious about what the assessment of others is.
The white areas and the stitching does not fluoresce under black light.

I take it the stenciled is USS-383?

If it is probably WWII for USS Pampanito.

Which makes it a rare WWII Submarine flag.

Shine a black light over the stencil part it should give a better reading in the dark,

Yes, it says USS-383. However, I thought it was a USS LST-383 Tank Landing Ship but this also seems an interesting suggestion ... I'm definitely going to investigate this ...

Does anyone else have an idea about the origin and / or authenticity?

PS: What do you mean with 'stencil'? I do not get the right (ducth) translation for that...

Stencil is the way it has been "printed" on the flag.
