    Default US collar disc date?

I have this US Army collar disc that I'm having a tough time dating. As you'll see in the photos, it is a 2-piece badge, with separate US attached to a plain disc. It has a screw back, and looks like it may have been gilt. Now, I would expect a WW2 era collar disc to have periods, i.e. U.S. rather than US,, but this one doesn't have them. Is this something unusual, or just a variation of a common type of disc?

Hello I believe your disc to be WW1 era pre WW2. Here is a progression of discs I believe to be from WW1 up to WW2 production. They range from no period US solid disc with screwback, up through multi-piece construction screwback/clutchback. And I'm certain there are many other variants out there. But as you say no period I believe pre WW2.
