    Dear all,

I am not sure if this thread fits to this (WWII) section, but I didn't found a better place to post it. Vietnam era is not my domain of collection but by chance I purchased this patch of the 1st US Cavalry Division could purchase the South Vetnameses patches too.

The bufallo patch 'Trau-Dien' ('Crazy Water Bufallos') belongs to the Marine Infantry, the 'Fi-Gung-Ho' patch is unknonw and the 'Kien-Giang' patch stands for a special reconnaissance unit. It's the first time I see these 'exotic' patches at all.

What I ask you what do you think about these patches? Any comment - e.g. to the service history - is very welcome too.

    With best wishes

Hi. I don't really know much about these patches. Although I will say that there are many, many fakes of Vietnam era, theatre made patches out there. I have handled a few and all seem to have a similar "grubby" appearance as the ones you show. Just basing this on my experience of them but please wait for more knowledgeable members to chip in. Cheers.

    Hi Alter

All the patches are reproductions and computer generated out of Vietnam done in the last 5 years.

Thank you very much for your evaluations! Irony of fate: About 40 years after the Vietnam War US and South Vietnamese patches were reproduced in the Socialist Republic Vietnam.
