One of my uncles worked for the Civil Construction Corp during WW2. Whilst working on an
airfield at Mareeba, QLD, Australia, he found this bombardier's badge.
The airfield was also known as " Hoevet Field "
On the reverse side are the words " Balfour" & "Sterling"
I have found out that the 19th and 43rd Bombardment Group of the USAAF
operated from this place. Perhaps this badge was belonged to one of their number.

If I had a spare set, they would be yours to start your collection with.
If these ones had been engraved, I would have made every effort to return
them to their owner or the owner's family.
I consider I am the custodian, not he owner. Perhaps they will end up in a
museum or display honouring the Americans that served in Australia.
Cheers,
Journeyman.

thats awesome and thanks for the thought i think its awesome to honor the vets
which is y i decided the other day im only gonna collect useable things so i can keep the stuff and memory alive and kinda be like living history in a small way and hopefully it will get more people to ask questions about it which will hopefully get more people in to wanting to know and honor the men & women of WWII and i cant wait till i can find a reenactment group so i can do more living history stuff i also cant wait till i can get more stuff like clothing and stuff because i only have a field jacket and a musette bag but hopefully one day ill have some more jackets and shirts and stuff like that
