    Default 1941 Leather pouch

    Hi Guys,
I picked this pouch up yesterday which I thought was interesting. Like most things it has a bit of a vague story. It belonged to the Vendors uncle who went through the war from 1939 to 1945 and served in Sicily and Italy in the Royal artillery.

The pouch was originally divided into 3 sections approx 25mm x 30mm.
It is marked CA 1941 and C/|\51.

Any clues ? Their is one on Ebay NOS which is marked up as a Sten Ammo pouch with a question mark and admits he doesn't know what it is for.

    Hi Roger!

I'm not sure what this pouch is for, but I can tell you that it was made in British India, likely by the 'Government Harness & Saddlery Factory, Cawnpore'.

Indian-made Pattern 1937 Officers' Webbing Set

Personally, 1941 seems pretty early for STEN accoutrements, particularly in India. I would tend to think that it is more related to saddlery...

    Very neat, at any rate!

I've got one the same and and 1 or 2 similar ones. There were lots of them a Sabre Sales (RIP) and they had all been whitened, some with pipeclay, but a lot with brilliant white gloss paint.
I am by no means certain of their use, but somebody said they were bandsman's pouches.
I'll dig them out and photo them when I get a mo.

Here is my one marked "BLG 1941".
The other is similar in construction and surface treatment, marked " Leatheries 1916" but also notice the indecipherable ink stamp (sorry phone camera is rubbish) that looks post ww2.

Don't know what either are for.....

Thanks for showing, it looks like you still have the dividing sections.

I think BLG is a British make.

    Yes, dividers still there.
There's another thread here for the pointy one A piece of British WW1 leather equipment, but what is it used for? that concludes its for a fife/picolo and this site Ww2 1941 Blg British Army Piccolo Case Thetford
so perhaps the rounded ones are for something similar
