2 pickups today..what did i find?

Was at a guys house today buying some old car parts. He had some nice stuff and told me to look around. Eventually he said I could look in the attic, and found two things. And old USN toolbox. Not sure how old or what its original use..so wondering if anyone knows.


faint writing..looks like it says KIT in one spot





second was an old canvas type messenger bag. I was handling it and it literally crumpled/pulled apart.Its a shame as it was a nice piece, but someone had already cut the sides off where I guess a strap would have been?...anyway had some interesting markings on it...I managed to save/keep the flap

What you have in the first object is a USN aircraft mechanics tool box made from NAF (Naval Aircraft Factory). Digits 1140 behind is the location code.
