So he was ww2! An educated man, 4 years of college and a Teacher before the war. Maybe he used to live in your house? I would keep digging my friend
Thanks for the info,I asked them if there were going to have a futher look and they said no! And if I find anymore just call the police!
Wow im finding more!!!!
haha I figured you would find some more. Makes you wonder why he chose to bury his wartime personal items? If he only knew that years later a collector of these items would find them........
I know how bizarre!
A bit more information about Buford Bryson Stinson
First off, here is a link to his enlistment records which Bill T has already posted:
NARA - AAD - Display Full Records - Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records)
Added info:
His full name was Buford Bryson Stinson, born 7th October 1920 and passed away 17 January 2004. He was from North Carolina.
He was a Sergeant in the US Army, and was at some time wounded in action. I have so far been unable to which unit he was in etc, but that can probably be found out by contacting a museum or archive/local library in NC, or possibly go through the units that were in your area during the war and hope for the best.
With a bit of luck and effort, you can probably find his relatives as well.
I think I should add that he should not be confused with a Leslie Buford Stinson who was a Navy pilot killed in action during WW2, he was from Tennessee.
Picture and site for his grave:

Good luck!
Best Regards
