I picked this one up at lunchtime. I'm happy it's British Army as its got the soldier's number on the rear (77499). What I'm less sure about is date, it looks too old fashioned to be WW1, so I was wondering if it could be Victorian. Any ideas?

I think you're right..im sure six digit service numbers came in during the first world war...Nice find and slightly different to those normally seen.
