Default British Officers high leg boots

Hi Guys, Officers had to buy their own kit. They had the option to wear brown coloured leather boots as opposed to the other ranks black leather boots.

Very early war some Officers opted for this style of high leg brown boot, very similar to those worn by British Officers in the Great War. These must have been expensive to buy. Gradually with the introduction of Battledress, this style went out of favour. Instead low boots were then worn with webbing gaiters.

    Cheers, Ade.
