    Default British WW2 Canteen?

I recently bought a what I thought was a British WW2 Canteen. However, I have no idea what era it's from or if it's authentic or not.
For $5 at a garage sale, it was worth the risk! I looked through this site here ( Water Bottles of the British Empire)
to try and figure out where this canteen is from but I can't seem to figure it out. The threading was open so I was able to take the canteen out fully for a picture.
Can anyone help? Also, I posted this in the wrong forum and couldn't figure out how to delete the post. Sorry if you're seeing this twice.

Here's a thread I found. Hope it helps. By the way, are there any markings on the top of the plug?

They are often ink stamp dated on the base when the cover is removed.

Looks good to me, but name written on it does not seem period to when it was manufactured. Looks like sharpie and those weren't around yet.

Reckon so; hard to tell the early war from post war skele cradles, but the brace with loop is early war. The wear on brace, bottle, and, cradle looks the same.

Out of interest, what does it say inside the popper?
