yes...like German items.

It's more Italian WW2 design , but this is obviously a British product

erm..... as it says on the lid;

"CONT(aine)r, COOK(in)g, 1 GALL(on), MkII"

pencil marks on the top apear (i am not certain) to say:
"Hull" 3 times,
"2 pints" twice,
and "21/5/45" twice.

so perhaps it was last used in a field kitchen in Hull, 2 weeks after VE day?
