    Pouch A
    measures 17x11x5 cm approx with no visible markings.
    Im assuming a mag pouch due to angled top?

    Pouch B
    measures 15x14x5 cm approx, markings look french maybe? there is the letters AA stamped in a box?

    I would suggest that the top one is French, as the wire loop looks the same as on the MAT 49 cleaning kit pouch.

    Also, for the second one, google Mle 1888 ammo pouch, I think it is one of those

    thanks for the pointers spitace, yes i can see what you mean about the loop on the top one, i can now see the french connection with that one, but still have little clue about it, trying to think what would have used the angled mags. they look a little like a FAL pouch but i dont think the french took on that rifle

    and thankyou for the pointer on the 1888 pouch, yes it does look to be one of them, im thinking its possibly fairly early due to the black colour and lack of wire loop??

    Pouch A could be for the Chat.M24/29 LMG-used a 25 round box mag.

    PS-A more remote possibility would be the US BAR as supplied to the Free French during the WW2 but you'd think that they would just use the US web pouches rather than make their own leather type.
