Here's an obvious forgery on eBay right now, but it has a bid at 17.95 GBP. Let's hope it doesn't go any higher...

MeCo would never do a stamp that wonky...I bet I can guess which seller it is too!A known faker.

I bet it will go higher though as 1939 is the magic date for webbing.

    Default 1938 dated L Strap

Got this recently, did not pay a lot for it. I don't know if it's got a fake date of 1938 on it because the strap looks well worn but the marking still seems pretty clear.
Any ideas if this is fake?
    Thanks

It looks okay to me baz. Just out of curiosity, is the brass hook stamped with a 'regd' number?

That's a nice example you have! They stopped stamping the patent number on those hooks by 1940, though I have seen some late war examples that were stamped (must have been using old stock from the bottom of the barrel).
