Fea market US type cex 10172 radio

Picked this also up on the fea market today ,its a US type cex 10172 radio but missing the skull cap

What era/period is this? I am not familiar with it, I consign myself to more basic (and common items) such as PRC-6's, a East German R-126, and I also have a Brit WS38 and 46 (it is quite gutted)

These were use Wartime from what info I can find they were US Navy but also used on D Day
