gas mask? identification

hi im new to the fourms because i recently accuried a gas mask, well what i think is a gas mask. it has a date on it that is 12/8/42 and some other markings as well. b.r.f., L&B.R.C. lot 17C. it is black rubber with glass lens. thanks in advance

Hi, the mask you have is a second world war British Civilian Duty Respirator, more specifically manufactured by the Leyland and Birminingham Rubber Company These were issued to people who would have had to carry out duties during air raids, for example ARP, Ambulance crews etc.
